How do I edit a page?
You must be logged in to the wiki to edit pages.
Each wiki page has a pencil icon
near the top right. Click this icon to enter editing mode. Some wiki pages also have edit pencil icons for individual sections of each article, to the right of each heading.
Remember to check the box "IS MINOR EDITS" if appropriate (e.g. fixing simple layout or spelling mistakes).
A history of all previous versions of each wiki page is recorded, so edits cannot be made anonymously (your username will be identified, at least).
How can I attach a photo or figure?
We recommend using images in .jpg .gif or .png format that are up to 300 KB in size.
Click on the image icon located in the menu bar above the article editing panel, and select "Attached Image...". The "Insert or edit image" window appears.
Double-click "Upload new image" and browse to the image location.
Click on Image Settings at the bottom of the Insert Image Window. Ignore the image size for now, but provide Alternative Text and choose central horizontal alignment.
Finally, click on "Insert Image".
How can I edit a photo or figure?
The simplest way to resize an image is to use your mouse to select it. Then, click and drag one of the corner points until the image is the correct size. We recommend a maximum of 600 pixels in either height or width. The pixel size should show up as you drag the corner point.
You can move an image on the page by clicking on it and then dragging the image to a new location on the page with your mouse. Cut and paste commands also work.
If you uploaded an image in error, delete it by going to the "Attachments" tab at the bottom of the wiki page and click on the delete box.
How can I attach a video?
1. Upload your image to a third-party platform. We suggest Vimeo. Use MP4, WEBM or OGV format.
2. Then, link the video to your wiki article. In the article edit window, select the SOURCE tab (not WYSIWYG). Scroll to where the video should be inserted and write this text exactly:

Then, replace "URL" with the actual video URL (copy and paste this web address directly from your brower address bar).
There's more info about videos on the XWiki Video Macro page.
How can I attach a document (e.g. docx, pdf)?
1. Click the Attachments tab at the bottom of your article. Click Browse, select the document to be uploaded and click Open. The document will be uploaded (speed depends on your internet connection and document size).
2. To link your document within the wiki article, view your article in edit mode. Click
and then Attached File. Click on your document in the list, click Select and then click Create Link.
HOW TO REVIEW AND COMMENT ON ARTICLES
How do I comment on something someone has written?
Below the article is a comment box. You simply write your comment there, remembering to be respectful of others in all communication. You must be logged in to the wiki to post a comment.
Will someone review what I have written?
The MRC-wiki team aims to ensure that all content on MRC-wiki will be reviewed shortly after major changes have been made.
Articles that have been peer-reviewed will have a by-line that identifies the version that was reviewed. Articles that have not been reviewed have no by-line or a statement that it has not yet been reviewed.
