Infrastructure Capital

There are five types of sustainable capital from where we derive the goods and services we need to improve the quality of our lives. The Five Capitals are explained on the 'Forum for the Future' webpage Five Capitals on Forum for the Future

The following information is from this source however the term 'Infrastructure Capital' has been substituted for 'Manufactured Capital' to meet the needs of this practitioner network;

Infastructure Capital comprises material goods or fixed assets which contribute to the production process rather than being the output itself – e.g. tools, machines and buildings.

If capital is invested in sustainable development then this would be reflected in infrastructure capital in the following way;

  • All infrastructure, technologies and processes make minimum use of natural resources and maximum use of human innovation and skills
